Women’s Asia Cup 2026: Thailand Women Edge Hong Kong China by 6 Runs in Opening Match
Thailand Women began their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a crucial six-run victory over Hong Kong China Women in a thrilling low-scoring contest in Dubai.

Thailand Women outclassed Hong Kong China Women by 6 runs in the low-scoring opening match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai. After being invited to bat first, Thailand Women posted 120/9 in 20 overs. A dangerous bowling spell from Marina Lamplough (4/11 in 4 overs) and Mei Wai Siu (3/37 in 4 overs) troubled the Thailand batting line-up and prevented their batters from scoring freely. Naruemol Chaiwai was Thailand’s top scorer.

In reply, Hong Kong China Women managed only 114/7 in 20 overs and lost the match by 6 runs. Onnicha Kamchomphu (3/27 in 4 overs) and Phannita Maya (2/22 in 4 overs) bowled accurately, kept the pressure on the batters and picked up crucial wickets at key stages.

Kary Chan and Yasmin Daswani were the top scorers for Hong Kong China Women, but their efforts were not enough to take their team over the line. Thailand Women have therefore started their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign on a positive note, securing a crucial victory in the opening match.
