Indian Railways Cancels and Reschedules Trains Ahead of CJP Protest in Delhi on October 10
Indian Railways has cancelled and rescheduled several trains on October 9 and 10 ahead of the CJP protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, citing congestion risks near New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations.
Indian Railways has cancelled and rescheduled several train services ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) planned protest in Delhi on October 10. Railway officials expect heavy traffic congestion near New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations. The disruptions affect several major trains, including Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani and Shatabdi services. Multiple Mail, Express and suburban trains will also remain cancelled. According to the Ministry of Railways, the cancellations will affect trains that leave their originating stations after 2 pm on October 9 and are scheduled to reach New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10. Northern Railway has listed several affected services connecting Delhi with Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and other regions.

Major Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Express Trains Affected

Several important long-distance trains feature on the cancellation list. These include the following services:
  • Rajendra Nagar Terminal–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (12309)
  • Sampoorna Kranti Express (12393)
  • Amrit Bharat Express (22361)
  • Kanpur Central–New Delhi Shatabdi Express (12033)
  • Prayagraj Express (12417)
  • Shram Shakti Express (12451)
Several trains serving Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan will also face disruptions. Indian Railways has separately cancelled the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12301) and Sealdah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12313). Both trains were scheduled to depart on October 9. Western Railway has rescheduled two major services by five hours. These are the Mumbai Central–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12951) and the Mumbai Central–Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express (12953). West Central Railway’s Bhopal division has also cancelled the Mumbai CSMT–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (22221) for October 9. The division cited operational reasons for the cancellation.

CJP Plans Protest Against Chief Election Commissioner

The train disruptions come ahead of the CJP’s planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10. The party wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign. The CJP has alleged irregularities in electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. It has also accused Kumar of bypassing other Election Commissioners to change Form 6, which people use to register as new voters. Authorities have not independently established these allegations.
