Rachel Zegler has been in the spotlight ever since Disney cast her as Snow White in its latest live-action adaptation. Directed by Marc Webb, the film, titled Snow White, will premiere worldwide on March 21. Recently, Zegler shared her thoughts on portraying the beloved princess and how she hopes audiences will connect with her version of the character.
A Snow White for a New Generation
Disney first introduced Snow White to the world in 1937 with the animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Now, nearly nine decades later, the new adaptation aims to keep the story relevant for today’s audiences.
Zegler emphasized the film’s fresh approach, saying, “From the word go, it was obvious that Marc wanted to make a ‘Snow White’ for this generation. That is what is so poignant in our story, and I think people all over the world will be able to resonate with her.”
Zegler’s Vision for Snow White
Playing Disney’s first princess felt like a major responsibility, but Zegler fully embraced the challenge. She wanted to ensure that Snow White remained lovable, feminine, and beautiful, while also strong and determined.
She explained, “It was really important to me that she be lovable and can be seen as feminine and very beautiful in more ways than one, while also maintaining a sense of strength and willpower. At the same time, she is very charming, and she wins over the seven dwarfs, as well as Jonathan, and ultimately, the kingdom.”
Furthermore, she expressed her excitement about introducing this new version of Snow White to younger audiences.
“Having a female character at the forefront of your story whose entire purpose is to be fearless, fair, brave, and true is unlike anything that I’ve ever seen before, and I am very excited for the next generation of moviegoers to see that,” she added.
Star-Studded Cast and Release Date
The film features Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, along with Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Patrick Page, Andrew Barth Feldman, Tituss Burgess, Martin Klebba, Jason Kravits, George Salazar, Jeremy Swift, and Andy Grotelueschen.
Disney’s Snow White will hit theaters on March 21, promising a fresh take on the beloved fairy tale.
