Since Friday morning, at least 64 people have died in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera. The number of casualties continues to climb as the attacks persist.

Urgent Food Crisis

The United Nations’ World Food Programme has issued a stark warning. It said, “Gaza needs food now”, pointing to the growing threat of hunger among thousands of residents.

Severe Psychological Toll

Al Jazeera reported that people in Gaza feel “psychologically broken”. Continuous Israeli air raids and a severe shortage of food—due to blocked aid—have left many unable to feed their children.

Arrests in the West Bank

Meanwhile, the Wafa news agency reported that Israeli forces arrested eight Palestinians in the Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron. Soldiers stormed the camp, detained several individuals, and damaged property during house raids.

Children at Risk

Hazem Musleh, a pediatrician at Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah, told Al Jazeera that more children are dying or facing life-threatening conditions because of the ongoing Israeli offensive.

Targeting Cultural Sites

On World Heritage Day, the human rights organization Al-Haq said that Israeli forces have attacked several Palestinian heritage sites. Some of these locations are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Land Threats in Bethlehem

Al Jazeera also reported that the al-Makhrour region in northern Bethlehem, a UNESCO-recognized area since 2014, is under threat from Israeli settler expansion. Al-Haq raised concerns about potential land seizures.

High Overall Death Toll

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, more than 61,700 Palestinians have been killed since the war started 18 months ago. Thousands remain trapped under rubble and are presumed dead. Over 1,16,500 people have been injured so far.

Hamas Attack in Israel

Al Jazeera added that at least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023. More than 200 people were taken hostage during those attacks.
