Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 5 wickets in the 43rd match of IPL 2025, held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Harshal Patel and Pat Cummins dismantled the Chennai batting line-up and set the stage for Sunrisers. Later, Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis played sensibly to secure the win for SRH. Mendis also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket.

Early Blow to CSK but Mhatre Keeps Scoring

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ayush Mhatre and Shaik Rasheed opened for CSK. However, Mohammed Shami struck on the very first ball. He removed Rasheed for a golden duck. Sam Curran walked in at No. 3 and got off the mark with a single. Mhatre started confidently with a boundary. After the first over, CSK were 7/1.

Pat Cummins bowled the second over. Mhatre hit him for two boundaries. Sam Curran also found a four off Shami in the third over. CSK reached 27/1 after three overs.

Patel returned in the 13th and took the wicket of Brevis, who made 42 off 25. Hooda replaced him. Unadkat struck in the 14th, removing Dube for 12. Dhoni walked in next. CSK were 119/6 after 14 overs.

SRH Wrap Up the CSK Innings

Ansari bowled the 15th over and gave just 8 runs. Cummins followed with a tight over, conceding only 3 runs. In the 17th, Patel sent Dhoni back for 6 runs. CSK were now 133/7.

Player of the Match: Harshal Patel

It looks like nothing is working for Chennai Super Kings. Their opening pair is not building partnerships or scoring runs for the team. However, recently included players like Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis have performed well and are contributing some runs. CSK lost 6 wickets for just 47 runs between the 13th and 20th overs. The team needs to improve its batting department so that the bowlers have a better chance to compete.

Harshal Patel continues to take wickets regularly. Pat Cummins also bowled well. Overall, SRH bowlers are doing their job, but the batsmen are consistently underperforming. Sunrisers Hyderabad need to address their top-order issues. They started their innings cautiously but lost early wickets in the powerplay. Ishan Kishan, and later Kamindu Mendis, played sensibly to secure the victory. Stay tuned with JUSZNEWS for regular updates!
