Kalinga Lancers Thrash Delhi SG Pipers with a Comprehensive 5-1 Win
The Vedanta Kalinga Lancers dominated the Delhi SG Pipers with a 5-1 victory, highlighted by goals from Bandurak, van Doren, Brinkman, and Singh.
The Vedanta Kalinga Lancers triumphed 5-1 against the Delhi SG Pipers in the Men’s Hero Hockey India League 2024-25 match at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela. Delhi SG Pipers came out aggressively from the beginning. In the 4th minute, they won a penalty corner. Tomas Domene took a powerful shot, but Lancers’ goalkeeper Krishan Pathak made an excellent block. Shortly after, in the 8th minute, the Lancers had a chance, but Pawan Kumar, the Pipers’ keeper, made a series of great saves.

Lancers Take the Lead

Then, in the 11th minute, Nicholas Bandurak capitalized on a rebound and scored, giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Despite more chances from the Pipers, Pathak’s strong performance kept them from scoring. As a result, the Lancers went into halftime with a narrow 1-0 lead.

Lancers Extend Their Advantage

After halftime, the Lancers wasted no time. In the 36th minute, Arthur van Doren scored from a penalty corner variation, doubling their lead. Two minutes later, Thierry Brinkman took advantage of a defensive mistake and made it 3-0. In the 43rd minute, Brinkman struck again after a deflection, bringing the score to 4-0.

Gursahibjit Singh Makes It 5-0

The Lancers continued their dominance in the 45th minute. Rosan Kujur dribbled down the right flank and passed perfectly to Gursahibjit Singh, who easily scored, making it 5-0.

SG Pipers Pull One Back

Finally, in the 46th minute, SG Pipers got a consolation goal. Corey Weyer fired a powerful tomahawk shot past Pathak, reducing the deficit to 5-1. However, it was too little too late, and the Lancers secured the commanding victory.
