Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Saturday evening. He met with top officials after India and Pakistan agreed to stop military operations. Several key figures attended the meeting. These included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Ceasefire Starts at 5 PM
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri made a brief statement. He said the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan had agreed to stop all military action by 5 pm on Saturday. He added that the Pakistani DGMO called the Indian DGMO at 3:35 pm that day.
US Helped Mediate Talks
Shortly before the announcement, US President Donald Trump said both countries had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire. He noted that the US played a role in the talks.
Indian Military Issues Warning
Even after the ceasefire deal, Indian defence officials gave a clear warning to Pakistan. Commodore Raghu Nair said, “While we will be adhering to the understanding reached today, we remain fully prepared to defend India’s sovereignty.” He stressed India’s readiness to act. “We remain fully operationally ready to launch whatever operations may be required in defence of the nation,” he added. He warned Pakistan about future actions. “Every misadventure by Pakistan will be met with strength and every future escalation will invite a decisive response.”
False Claims by Pakistan Dismissed
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh denied Pakistan’s claims about damaging Indian missile systems. She said, “Pakistan’s claim of destroying India’s S-400 missile base is completely false.” Furthermore, she accused Pakistan of spreading fake news. “Several attempts were made by Pakistan to spreading mis-information,” she said. She also reported Pakistan had suffered major losses in both air and land battles. She dismissed another claim. Singh said Pakistan’s statement about destroying a BrahMos missile installation was also false.
