Early Blow to RCB
Punjab Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opened with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. Arshdeep Singh began with a wide. Salt hit a six, followed by a double and a four. RCB got 13 runs from the first over.
Kyle Jamieson bowled the second over. Kohli opened his account with a single. Salt hit a four but lost his wicket after scoring 16 off 9 balls. Mayank Agarwal came next and opened with a single. RCB stood at 19/1 after two overs.
RCB Build Momentum
In the third over, Mayank ended with a six off Arshdeep. The score moved to 30/1. Kohli and Mayank added boundaries in the fourth over. Omarzai bowled the fifth over and gave away just 7 runs. In the sixth over, Mayank hit a four and brought up RCB’s fifty. After the powerplay, RCB were 55/1.
Yuzvendra Chahal struck in the 7th over, dismissing Mayank for 24. Rajat Patidar joined and started with a single. Vyshak Vijaykumar bowled the 8th over, which went for 8 runs. Patidar hit a six in the 9th over, and Kohli followed with a four in the 10th over. At the halfway mark, RCB were 87/2.
Kohli Steadies, Patidar Falls
Jamieson returned in the 11th and removed Patidar after a six. He scored 26. Liam Livingstone joined Kohli. Chahal bowled the 12th, and RCB reached 100. Vyshak gave 8 runs in the 13th.

Livingstone hit a six and Kohli a four in the 14th. Omarzai struck in the 15th, dismissing Kohli for 43. Jitesh Sharma entered and got off the mark. RCB were 132/4.
Late Fireworks, Arshdeep’s Triple Blow
In the 16th, Jitesh hit two boundaries off Arshdeep. Jamieson gave away two sixes but removed Livingstone for 25 in the 17th. Shepherd joined Jitesh. Vyshak bowled the 18th and dismissed Jitesh for 24. Krunal Pandya came in.
Omarzai’s 19th over saw a six and a four from Shepherd. Arshdeep bowled the final over and took three wickets—Shepherd, Krunal, and Bhuvneshwar. RCB finished at 190/9.
PBKS Begin the Chase Strongly
Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened for Punjab Kings. Bhuvneshwar bowled the first. Priyansh hit a four, Prabhsimran finished with a six. 13 runs came from the over.
Yash Dayal’s second over yielded 10 runs. Hazlewood bowled the third, giving just 5. PBKS were 28/0 after 3.
Early Wickets Halt Momentum
Bhuvneshwar gave 4 runs in the 4th. Hazlewood dismissed Priyansh in the 5th. He made 24. Josh Inglis walked in. PBKS reached 50 in the 6th over. After six overs, PBKS were 52/1.
Krunal bowled a tight 7th over. In the 8th, both Inglis and Prabhsimran hit sixes. In the 9th, Krunal got Prabhsimran for 26. Shreyas Iyer came in but got out in the 10th for 1. PBKS stood at 81/3 after 10 overs.

Suyash bowled a tidy 14th over. In the 15th over, Shashank and Wadhera found boundaries. PBKS were 119/4.
Hazlewood, Bhuvi Strike Hard
In the 16th over, Shashank hit two sixes off Hazlewood. Bhuvneshwar struck twice in the 17th over—dismissing Wadhera and Stoinis. PBKS slipped to 144/6.

Final Over Drama
Bhuvneshwar’s 19th over saw Shashank hit a six and a four. PBKS needed 29 off the final over. Hazlewood bowled the last six balls of IPL 2025. The first two deliveries were dots. Then Shashank launched a six, a four, and another six. He completed his fifty in 29 balls.
Still, Punjab Kings fell short. They lost by 6 runs. Shashank remained unbeaten on 61 off 30. Jamieson stayed not out on zero.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first-ever IPL title. Hazlewood held his nerve in the last over. Shashank’s brave effort went in vain.
