US House Speaker Mike Johnson Backs Israel’s Right to Defend Itself Amid Iran Attack
As Israel strikes Iran, the US distances itself officially—while House Speaker Mike Johnson openly backs Tel Aviv’s actions.

As Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, the US government tried to step back from the operation. However, US House Speaker Mike Johnson openly supported Israel. He shared a clear message on X (formerly Twitter), backing Israel’s right to defend itself.

“Israel IS right—and has a right—to defend itself!” Johnson posted, along with an image of the Israeli flag.

Explosions in Tehran, Israel Claims Responsibility

On Thursday night, loud blasts shook Tehran, Iran’s capital. The explosions hit areas near military and nuclear sites. Soon after, Israel confirmed it had carried out the attack. It called the move a series of "pre-emptive strikes" against threats.

US Tries to Distance Itself from the Attack

Shortly after the attack, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a public statement. He made it clear that America did not take part in Israel's operation. His message aimed to keep the US away from the rising tension between Israel and Iran.

“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” Rubio said on Thursday evening.

He further added, “Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defence. US President Donald Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel.”

Tensions Rise Amid Nuclear Deal Talks

As the situation grows more intense, all eyes are on President Donald Trump. The strikes come at a sensitive time, especially because he had been in talks with Iran over a long-awaited nuclear deal. Now, the global community is watching to see how Trump will respond to this sudden escalation between two major rivals in West Asia.
