A helicopter carrying seven people crashed shortly after taking off from Kedarnath on Sunday, June 15, 2025. The aircraft was on its way to Guptkashi when the accident took place.
At least five people lost their lives in the crash. Among the passengers were five adults, a child, and the pilot.
Frequent Accidents Raise Alarm
This marks the fifth helicopter accident in Uttarakhand within just 40 days. The repeated incidents have raised serious concerns about flight safety in the region, especially during the busy pilgrimage season.
CM Dhami Responds
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reacted quickly to the news. He shared on social media platform X, “Very sad news has been received about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. SDRF, local administration and other rescue teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations.”
