Trump Threatens to Cut Elon Musk’s Subsidies After Spending Bill Feud
US President Donald Trump warns Elon Musk about ending subsidies after Musk slams his massive spending bill.

US President Donald Trump has warned he might stop giving federal subsidies to Elon Musk's companies. This comes after Musk repeatedly criticized Trump’s major spending bill, calling it financially reckless.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune. Perhaps we should have Doge take a good, hard, look at this? Big money to be saved!”

Trump Reacts After Musk Targets His Signature Bill

For several weeks, Musk has spoken out against the bill often referred to as the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, which is central to Trump’s economic agenda. Musk argued that the bill would increase U.S. debt massively.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported that the Senate version of Trump’s bill—amended by Republican lawmakers—would add around $3.3 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years. That’s nearly $1 trillion more than the version the House of Representatives had put forward.

Musk Threatens Political Action Against Spending Supporters

In response, Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying he would form a new political party to fight this kind of spending. He also warned Republican leaders who supported the bill.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Musk wrote.

He added in another post, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a voice.”

Trump and Musk Feud Turns Public

Though tensions had been growing for weeks, the conflict became public last month. Both men lashed out at each other on social media.

Musk even accused Trump of having connections with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. This claim added more fuel to the already heated exchange between the two influential figures.
