Abhishek Bachchan Recalls Nerve-Racking First Day Acting With Father Amitabh
Abhishek Bachchan recalled feeling terrified while filming his first scene with father Amitabh in Sarkar, and shared how a sharp scolding later left him emotionally shaken.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan recently shared a personal and emotional memory from the time he worked with his father, Amitabh Bachchan, in the film Sarkar. In an interview, Abhishek admitted he was extremely nervous on the first day of shooting and later received a stern scolding from his father that left him feeling "destroyed."

Abhishek Opens Up About First Scene With Amitabh

Abhishek remembered how anxious he felt during their first scene together. He said, “The first time we shot together was for Sarkar. Ramu [Ram Gopal Varma] said that we’ll do some test shoots, and then I could go away and shoot Bunty Aur Babli. This was September 2004. First day, I was panicking and sweating. He says to me, ‘Shankar’, and all I had to do was turn around and say, ‘Ji?’ I was petrified, I was literally shaking. He has that effect.”

Although it was a short dialogue, Abhishek admitted that facing his father on camera made him extremely nervous.

The Car Ride That Ended With a Scolding

After the shoot, Abhishek decided to wait inside his vanity van, thinking Amitabh would leave the set first. But that didn’t happen. Amitabh came to Abhishek’s van and suggested they ride home together.

The ride back home was tense and completely silent. Abhishek said, "The entire ride back was spent in pin-drop silence. He is just looking straight."

When they reached their home and the staff stepped out, Amitabh finally broke the silence. Abhishek continued, “He’s just sitting there, and then, in 48 frames, he turned to me. ‘Isiliye maine itne saal mehnat karke tumhe padhaya likhaya? Dialogue bolna aata nahi hai tumhe (Is this why I worked so hard and spent so much on your education? You can’t even say a line properly).’ I felt like I had murdered someone, the way he looked at me. He just destroyed me.”

This moment clearly had a lasting impact on Abhishek.

Abhishek Completes 25 Years in Films

Abhishek recently completed 25 years in the film industry. He made his acting debut with JP Dutta’s Refugee in 2000. Over the years, he has played diverse roles in various genres.

Next, he will appear in a film titled Kaalidhar Laapata, which is set to premiere on Zee5 on July 4.
