‘I prefer gifts to pyaar’: Neena Gupta Gets Real About Relationships
Neena Gupta calls herself “very materialistic” and says she prefers gifts over love in a candid and witty take on relationships.

Veteran actor Neena Gupta, known for speaking her mind, recently opened up about her views on love and relationships. In a chat, she gave an honest and humorous take on what matters more to her—gifts over emotional expressions.

When asked whether she would prefer a partner who doesn’t give gifts or plan surprises but expresses love sometimes, Neena gave a candid response:
"I prefer gifts to pyaar. Pyaar kya matab? Nonsense (what do you mean by love? Nonsense). I am very materialistic."

Her reply had fans both laughing and agreeing.

A Friend’s Advice That Stuck With Her

Neena also shared a personal moment with a friend that stayed with her. She recalled how she once compared her husband to others and felt disappointed. That’s when her friend gave her a piece of advice she never forgot.

"My friend once said something really nice to me. I was arguing, complaining about how my husband doesn't do this, or her husband doesn't do that. So she explained to me, you know, you should tell your husband that in love, things like property, jewellery, clothes, they're all included. If I just say, 'I love you, I love you so much,' and that's it… That’s not enough. You have to do something too. Give something. At least a saree on my birthday," Neena said.

Neena Gupta’s Upcoming Projects

Neena is currently promoting her upcoming film, Metro In Dino. Directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu, the film explores different shades of love.

The movie stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neena herself. The story unfolds through four interlinked love stories that feature couples from different age groups, all set in a lively metro city. The film is set to release on July 4.

Also Appearing in Panchayat Season 4

Besides her film, Neena is also seen playing the role of Manju Devi, the village head (Pradhan), in the popular web series Panchayat, now in its fourth season.
