Sanjay Dutt has shone in Hindi cinema for over forty years. He earned fame for roles in Vaastav, Munna Bhai MBBS, and Agneepath. Despite his stardom, he revealed he isn’t his own children’s favourite actor.
Kids Prefer the New Generation
The 65‑year‑old star welcomed twins Shahraan and Iqra with wife Manyata Dutt in 2010. When The Times of India asked if his teens wanted to follow his movie path, he replied, “They do watch movies, but I am not their favourite actor and that’s okay (laughs). They like Tiger Shroff and the younger lot, which is good.” He also said he urges them to finish school and go to university before choosing any career.
New Ventures in South Indian Cinema
Soon, Dutt will enter South Indian films. He will appear in the Telugu movie The RajaSaab alongside Prabhas. Next, he will feature in the Kannada film KD – The Devil, with Dhruva Sarja, Reeshma Nanaiah, Shilpa Shetty, and Nora Fatehi.
He praised the South film industry, saying, “It’s a great place to be in.” Then he explained, “Their sensibility of cinema is what we have had all our lives – to cater to the masses, to enhance the hero on screen and to do all that which I think Bollywood has forgotten to do now.” He added that South filmmakers work with passion and that he hopes Bollywood rediscovers that same drive.
A Call to Return to Bollywood’s Roots
Dutt believes Bollywood needs to look back at its golden age. He said, “I wish these kinds of films were back as this is exactly what we are lacking today. We should just go back to our roots.”
