Fadnavis to Take Oath as Maharashtra CM on 5 December
Devendra Fadnavis claimed the right to form the Maharashtra government on Wednesday. He will take the oath as Chief Minister in Mumbai tomorrow at 5:30 PM. “We have met the Governor and handed over the letter of support. The Governor has invited us to the oath ceremony,” Fadnavis said.

Two Deputy Chief Ministers to Join the Cabinet

Union Minister Vijay Rupani confirmed that two Deputy Chief Ministers would take the oath alongside Fadnavis. He did not reveal their names. Reports suggest that Ajit Pawar from the NCP may be one of them. Rupani stated that the remaining cabinet positions would be decided after talks with Mahayuti allies. He dismissed rumors of internal conflicts. “There are no differences in Mahayuti. Everyone is happy,” Rupani said.

BJP Unanimously Chooses Fadnavis

The BJP Legislative Party unanimously elected Fadnavis as its leader. This decision came ten days after the Mahayuti coalition’s massive election victory. Eknath Shinde initially wanted the CM post but later supported Fadnavis.

Fadnavis Calls Victory Historic

Fadnavis thanked his party and allies after his election. He called the assembly results “historic” and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “These elections proved that ‘Ek Hain to Safe Hain’ (Together We Are Safe) and ‘Modi Hai to Mumkin Hai’ (With Modi, It’s Possible),” Fadnavis said. He expressed gratitude to Maharashtra voters and coalition leaders, including Shinde, Ajit Pawar, and Athawale.

Mahayuti Secures a Landslide Win

The BJP-led Mahayuti coalition won 235 seats in the assembly elections. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats. The Shiv Sena won 57 seats, while the NCP secured 41. This victory further cemented the BJP’s position as a dominant political force in Maharashtra.
