Will AAP Secure a Fourth Term or Will BJP Make a Comeback in Delhi?
The Delhi election results on Saturday will determine if AAP secures a fourth term or if BJP makes a comeback after nearly 30 years.
The much-anticipated Delhi election results will be declared on Saturday. This will determine whether Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wins a fourth term or if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stages a comeback after nearly 30 years.

Vote Counting Begins at 8 AM

The counting of votes will begin at 8 am across all 70 constituencies. To ensure security, all EVMs have been stored safely in 70 strong rooms located at 19 places across Delhi.

AAP’s Past Success

Looking back, AAP established its dominance in Delhi’s politics in 2015, winning 67 out of 70 seats. The party continued its success in 2020, securing 62 seats and leaving both the BJP and Congress far behind.

Exit Polls Predict BJP Lead

However, exit polls have suggested that BJP may have a slight edge in this election. Nonetheless, two polls show AAP in a close contest, with the party still holding a potential lead.

AAP’s Confidence in Victory

Despite these predictions, AAP remains confident of forming the government again. AAP MP Sanjay Singh firmly stated, "What can you expect from the exit poll surveys conducted by massage and spa companies? Wait for February 8 and the AAP will form the government with a decisive majority."

AAP Alleges BJP Poaching Attempts

In the days leading up to the counting, the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) visited Kejriwal’s residence. They sought evidence to back up his claims that the BJP had tried to poach AAP candidates. As Kejriwal did not meet with ACB officials, they served him a legal notice.

ACB Requests Evidence

Moreover, the ACB has asked Kejriwal to provide proof of his allegations. The notice reads, "Provide the evidence and proof to support the claim/allegations of the offer of a bribe levelled by you and your party members on various media/social media platforms."

Congress Hopes for a Comeback

Meanwhile, Congress, which ruled Delhi from 1998 to 2013, is hoping for a strong performance. The party has struggled in the last two elections and is seeking to regain its foothold.

Safety of EVMs Ensured

In addition, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, R Alice Vaz, confirmed that all necessary safety arrangements have been made. "All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and security of the polled EVMs and VVPATs in accordance with ECI safety protocols," she stated.
