Indian Super League 2024-25: Odisha FC Clinches 3-1 Win Over Hyderabad FC in Dramatic Comeback
Odisha FC came from behind to beat Hyderabad FC 3-1, with Hugo Boumous playing a key role in their impressive comeback victory.

Odisha FC secured a 3-1 victory over Hyderabad FC on Friday at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, during the Indian Super League 2024-25 season. Odisha FC now sits in seventh place with 29 points, just two behind Mumbai City FC, who are in sixth with 31 points. Hyderabad FC remains a strong contender for the playoffs despite the loss.

First Half: Hyderabad Takes the Lead

The game started with Hyderabad FC taking control. In the 30th minute, they scored from a set-piece. Hyderabad worked together to break through Odisha’s defense. Muhammed Rafi headed the ball from the left post to Stefan Sapic, who tapped it in from close range, giving Hyderabad a 1-0 lead.

Second Half: Odisha FC's Strong Comeback

In the second half, Odisha FC made an impressive comeback. They equalized just two minutes after the break. Mourtada Fall scored with a powerful header from a quick corner by Hugo Boumous. Fall sprinted into position and placed the ball in the top left corner to bring Odisha FC level at 1-1.

Odisha FC Takes the Lead

Shortly after, Odisha FC pressed forward and took the lead. In the 49th minute, Jerry Mawihmingthanga passed the ball to Boumous on the right flank. Boumous skillfully carried the ball into the box and finished with a shot into the bottom left corner, making it 2-1 in favor of Odisha FC.

Odisha FC Extends Their Lead

Odisha FC continued to dominate. In the 70th minute, Rahim Ali received a long pass on the right side. He dodged a challenge from Sapic and drilled the ball into the bottom left corner from a tough angle, extending Odisha FC’s lead to 3-1.

Late Chances and Comfortable Win

Hyderabad FC struggled to find an answer. Late in the match, Dori set up Boumous in the box, but Boumous’ shot went over the target in the 88th minute. Despite this, Odisha FC held on to their lead and secured a comfortable win.

Key Player

Hugo Boumous was the standout performer of the match. He completed 34 out of 44 passes, scored one goal, and provided one assist, clearance, and interception.
