India secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over England with Harmanpreet Singh's double strike and solid defensive play.

India secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over England in the Men's FIH Pro League, successfully bouncing back from their previous defeat. This hard-fought win gave the hosts a perfect ending to their home leg.

England Starts Strong, but India Strikes First

At the start, England dominated possession and created several chances. However, they failed to convert any of them into goals. Meanwhile, India took some time to settle but gradually found their rhythm.

Then, in the 26th minute, Harmanpreet Singh capitalized on India’s momentum. He fired a powerful drag flick into the net, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. However, England quickly responded. Just before halftime, Conor Williamson scored from a penalty stroke, bringing the score to 1-1.

Harmanpreet’s Second Goal Puts India Ahead

As the second half began, India immediately went on the attack. In the 32nd minute, Harmanpreet struck again with another precise drag flick, restoring India’s lead.

From then on, India increased the tempo, stretching England’s defense. Meanwhile, England had no choice but to push forward aggressively. As a result, the game turned into a high-paced, end-to-end battle with both teams creating chances.

Late Drama as England Misses a Crucial Chance

With only three minutes left, England made a bold move. They withdrew their goalkeeper to gain an extra outfield player. Consequently, they won a penalty corner almost immediately. However, they failed to stop the ball cleanly, wasting a golden opportunity to equalize.

Afterward, India’s defense held firm and successfully maintained their lead until the final whistle.

Hardik Singh Wins Player of the Match

Hardik Singh delivered an exceptional performance and earned the Player of the Match award. Reflecting on the team’s resilience, he said:
"I think we started off well and we have finished on a high too. Every time we had a result that didn’t go our way, we had plans to bounce back and we won every time."

In the end, India’s determination and strategic play secured a well-deserved victory.
