Mumbai Indians (MI) dominated UP Warriorz (UPW) with an eight-wicket win in the TATA Women's Premier League 2025. This victory put MI at the top of the points table. They secured their third straight win after a close loss to Delhi Capitals.

Sciver-Brunt Shines with Bat and Ball

Natalie Sciver-Brunt led MI with an outstanding performance. She took 3 wickets for 18 runs in four overs, restricting UPW to 142/9. Later, she smashed an unbeaten 75 off 44 balls, sealing MI’s win with three overs left. Hayley Matthews also played a key role, scoring 59 off 50 balls and taking 1 wicket for 38 runs.

UP Warriorz Start Strong but Collapse

MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bowl first. UPW lost Kiran Navgire in the first over when she mistimed a shot off Sciver-Brunt to Shabnim Ismail at mid-on. Grace Harris, promoted up the order, launched a counterattack. She hit three consecutive boundaries off Ismail in the second over and smashed 20 runs off Matthews in the fifth. Vrinda Dinesh also contributed, pushing UPW to 62/1 in six overs. Harris had an eventful duel with Ismail. After a dropped catch, Ismail finally dismissed her off Amelia Kerr’s bowling. Harris walked back with 45 off 26 balls.

UPW Middle Order Crumbles

Sanskriti Gupta triggered UPW’s collapse. She dismissed Vrinda Dinesh (33 off 30) and Tahlia McGrath within three balls. Harmanpreet Kaur then took a stunning one-handed catch at short fine leg to send Deepti Sharma back. UPW struggled at 93/5 after 12 overs. Sciver-Brunt struck again, removing Shweta Sehrawat and Chinelle Henry. UPW lost six wickets for 42 runs. Sciver-Brunt’s 3-18 made her the joint-highest wicket-taker of the season with seven wickets. Ismail took two wickets in the penultimate over. UPW finished at 142/9.

Mumbai Indians Chase with Ease

MI started cautiously, scoring just 18 runs in five overs. They lost Yastika Bhatia early. Sciver-Brunt then broke free with three consecutive fours. Matthews joined in, and they built a strong partnership. At the 10-over mark, MI reached 65/1, needing 78 more runs. They accelerated, scoring 50 runs in the next five overs. Sciver-Brunt hit her third fifty of WPL 2025, staying unbeaten at 75. Matthews reached her first fifty of the season with a 22-run over off Harris. MI completed the chase with three overs to spare, continuing their strong form in the tournament.
