Pakistan Army Thwarts Attack on Security Post, 10 Militants Killed
Pakistan Army killed 10 TTP militants after a suicide bombing in South Waziristan, reinforcing its commitment to eliminate terrorism.
The Pakistan Army announced on Thursday that it killed 10 militants linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This operation followed a suicide bombing near the Frontier Corps camp in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by Geo News.

Militants Target Security Checkpost

Security forces stated that militants attempted to attack the Jandola checkpost. A suicide bomber detonated an explosive-laden vehicle near the Frontier Corps camp. As a result, the military launched a swift counteroperation. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed strong support for security forces. He reaffirmed the nation's commitment to "eliminate terrorism from the country."

Recent Wave of Terror Attacks

This suicide attack occurred just days after Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) militants targeted the Jaffar Express on Tuesday. The train, carrying 440 passengers, came under attack near the mountainous regions of Gudalar and Piru Kunri. Consequently, security forces had to respond quickly. During the attack, militants killed 21 passengers and four paramilitary soldiers. However, the Pakistan Army launched an immediate operation. By Wednesday, security forces had successfully eliminated all 33 insurgents.

Terrorism on the Rise in Pakistan

According to the Global Terrorism Index 2025 report, Pakistan witnessed a sharp increase in terrorism-related deaths. Fatalities surged by 45%, rising from 748 in 2023 to 1,081 in 2024. As a result, Pakistan moved from fourth to second place among the most terrorism-affected countries worldwide. The report highlighted that 2024 recorded the highest number of TTP attacks ever. Additionally, it noted that deaths caused by the group reached their highest level since 2011.

Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Hotspots of Violence

Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which share borders with Afghanistan, remained the most affected regions. Together, these provinces accounted for over 96% of all terrorist attacks and fatalities in Pakistan in 2024.

Attack on Military Cantonment in Bannu

On March 6, terrorists carried out another deadly attack in northwest Pakistan. Two explosive-laden vehicles rammed into the boundary wall of the main cantonment in Bannu. As a result, nine people lost their lives, and 16 others sustained injuries. However, army personnel responded quickly, neutralizing at least six militants during the assault.
