Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava dominated February box office, contributing 53% of the total ₹1,245 crore earnings. Its massive success boosted Hindi cinema’s market share and set new records for post-pandemic box office growth

The Indian box office maintained its strong momentum from January, collecting an impressive ₹1,245 crore in February. Leading the charge was Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which alone contributed 53% of the month’s total earnings.

February Box Office Report

According to Ormax Media’s India Box Office Report, the domestic box office earned ₹1,245 crore, including projected collections from films still in theaters. Chhaava, a historical biopic directed by Laxman Utekar, emerged as the top performer. The film, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, released on February 14 and captivated audiences across India.

Since its Telugu version premiered in March 2025, the report only includes earnings from the Hindi release. With Chhaava’s success, the total box office revenue for 2025 has reached ₹2,264 crore, marking a 39% increase compared to the same period in 2024. February 2025 also became the highest-grossing February since the pandemic.

Top 10 Films of February 2025

Chhaava led the charts, grossing over ₹650 crore and cementing its place among the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. Tamil film Dragon secured the second spot, surpassing the big-budget Vidaamuyarchi.

Hindi Cinema Gains Market Share

Chhaava’s massive earnings boosted Hindi cinema’s market share. For January-February 2025, Hindi films accounted for 45% of total box office revenue, up from 40% in 2024.

With such a strong start, 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Indian cinema. Audiences are returning to theaters in record numbers, and the industry is setting new benchmarks with each passing month.
