Khushi Kapoor Wants to Explore Darker, Intense Roles
Khushi Kapoor, after exploring lighthearted roles, now wants to dive into darker, more intense films.

Earlier this month, Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan, officially stepped into Bollywood with Nadaaniyan. He starred alongside Khushi Kapoor, daughter of Sridevi. While Ibrahim is just starting out, Khushi already had two films under her belt when their teen rom-com premiered on OTT.

Her career began with The Archies (2023), where she played the sweet and sensitive Betty Cooper. Later, she took on the role of Baani in Loveyapa, her first theatrical release. Unlike her first film, this character was lively, bubbly, and full of energy. So far, she has chosen lighthearted and breezy roles.

Khushi Wants to Explore Darker Roles

However, Khushi now wants a change. In a recent interview with Grazia India, she shared her desire to experiment with darker themes.

“I’ve always been curious to see what the process of a thriller-horror movie would look like; maybe not completely horror but something a bit darker than the movies I’ve done so far," she said. "It would be interesting to explore a slightly darker film. I like doing dramatic and emotional scenes, so I think it would be interesting to do a film that was heavier on those kinds of notes.”

Clearly, she is ready to step out of her comfort zone.

Following Janhvi Kapoor’s Path?

Interestingly, her sister Janhvi Kapoor has already explored similar genres. In Ghost Stories (2020), she played a nurse in Zoya Akhtar’s segment. Later, she took on a horror-comedy role in Roohi (2021). With these performances, Janhvi proved her versatility.

What’s Next for Khushi?

After playing the privileged and stylish Pia Jaisingh in Nadaaniyan, Khushi is now looking for more intense and emotional roles. Fans might soon see her in a psychological thriller or a gripping horror film.
