Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah is fully fit. The star pacer is likely to play in MI’s next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday.

Bumrah Set for Comeback After Injury

Bumrah has not played since the Sydney Test in Australia due to a back injury. As a result, he also missed the ICC Champions Trophy, which India eventually won.

However, Jayawardene delivered good news in the pre-match press conference. “He's available, he's training today, and should be available (for RCB game). He arrived last night, he had his sessions with NCA (now called as Centre of Excellence), and he's been handed over to our physios. He's bowling today (in the practice session), so all good," he said.

So far, Bumrah has claimed 165 wickets in 133 IPL matches. Clearly, his presence boosts MI’s bowling attack.

Rohit Also Close to Return

Meanwhile, Jayawardene also gave an update on Rohit Sharma. The MI captain missed the previous game against Lucknow Super Giants due to a knee injury he picked up while batting in the nets.

Fortunately, Jayawardene confirmed encouraging signs. “Ro (Rohit) looks good. He is going to bat today (in a training session) as well. It was just an unfortunate impact on his leg while batting. So it's not comfortable. We were travelling yesterday (Saturday), and he will have a hit today and then we will do an assessment on that,” he explained.

Timely Boost for Mumbai Indians

So far, MI have won just one game in the season. Therefore, the return of Bumrah and Rohit could not have come at a better time. Their availability may provide the momentum the team needs going forward.
