Abhishek Sharma's fiery 141 and his 150-run stand with Head powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a dominant 8-wicket win over Punjab Kings.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) crushed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 8 wickets in the 27th match of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head stormed in and dismantled Punjab’s bowling attack. Together, they stitched a 172-run stand that laid the foundation for SRH’s dominant chase. Abhishek smashed the ball to all corners and played an unforgettable knock. Meanwhile, Head kept the pressure on with his fluent strokeplay. Later, Heinrich Klaasen stepped in and finished the job with ease. As a result, SRH chased down 246 with confidence and authority.

Explosive Start by Punjab Kings

Captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings for Punjab Kings. Prabhsimran wasted no time, smashing three consecutive boundaries off Mohammed Shami’s first over. Next, Priyansh joined the attack, hitting a six and a four in Pat Cummins’ over. After two overs, Punjab Kings were off to a blistering start at 30/0. The third over brought more fireworks. Priyansh launched a six to kick things off, and Prabhsimran finished with another huge hit. The pair added 23 runs, racing PBKS to 53/0 after just three overs.

Early Wicket but No Slowdown

Harshal Patel broke the stand in the fourth over by dismissing Priyansh for 36 off 13 balls. PBKS reached 66/1. Shreyas Iyer walked in next and ended the powerplay with a six. At the end of six overs, PBKS were 89/1. Prabhsimran had 41 from 20, while Shreyas was on 9 from 3.

Debutant Eshan Malinga struck in the 7th over. He dismissed Prabhsimran for 42. Nehal Wadhera joined Shreyas at the crease. PBKS were 92/2 after 7 overs. They crossed the 100-run mark in the 9th over with both batters hitting sixes. At halfway mark, PBKS stood strong at 120/2.

Shreyas Iyer Leads the Charge

Double Blow Hurts PBKS

In the 17th over, Shreyas smacked his way past 200 runs for PBKS. But Harshal Patel struck twice in the 18th over. He removed Glenn Maxwell and then the well-set Shreyas, who made 82 from 36 balls. Stoinis hammered four consecutive sixes in the final over off Shami, finishing unbeaten on 34. PBKS posted a massive 245/6.

Priyansh and Prabhsimran got things started, Shreyas Iyer lifted the atmosphere, and then came a storm named Abhishek Sharma, who blew away Punjab Kings. He smashed the ball all around the ground and demolished the Punjab bowling attack. Travis Head played a crucial role—he blocked every path Punjab had to stay in the contest. None of the bowlers could find a way to stop Abhishek. He got out when the damage had already been done. None of the batters from either side showed any respect to the bowlers. Although Harshal Patel picked up 4 wickets, he still conceded over 10 runs per over. Stay tuned with JUSZNEWS for regular updates!
