Punjab Kings Blazing Start
Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings. Vaibhav Arora bowled the first over for Kolkata Knight Riders. Priyansh Arya got off the mark with a boundary on the very first ball and ended the over with another boundary. Prabhsimran Singh opened his account with a single. As a result, Punjab Kings made a strong start, scoring 10 runs from the first over.
Solid Opening Stand
Chetan Sakaria bowled the second over and kept things tight by conceding only 3 runs. However, Priyansh smashed two boundaries in the third over. After three overs, PBKS stood at 25/0.
In the fourth over, Priyansh cracked two boundaries while Prabhsimran launched a six. Harshit Rana bowled the fifth over, but Prabhsimran greeted him with a boundary followed by a six. These blows brought up PBKS' 50 and a 50-run opening stand. Afterward, Varun Chakaravarthy bowled a tidy sixth over, giving away just 2 runs. PBKS reached 56/0 after the powerplay.
Arya and Prabhsimran Continue Momentum
Sunil Narine bowled the seventh over, giving away 4 runs. Then, Priyansh attacked Varun Chakaravarthy in the eighth over by hitting a six. PBKS moved to 71/0 after 8 overs. Narine again kept it tight in the ninth, conceding only 3 runs.
However, Priyansh counter-attacked in the 10th over, hitting two boundaries and a six off Harshit Rana. He completed his half-century off just 27 balls. PBKS stood strong at 90/0 after 10 overs.
100-Run Partnership Brings Big Boost
In the 11th over, Sunil Narine returned but Priyansh welcomed him with a six. Prabhsimran followed with a six of his own, reaching 100 runs for PBKS and completing their 100-run stand. Prabhsimran closed the over with another six. PBKS roared to 112/0 after 11 overs.
KKR Finally Break Through
Andre Russell finally gave KKR a breakthrough in the 12th over. Priyansh Arya, after hitting a six, got out for a brilliant 69 off 35 balls. Shreyas Iyer walked in at No. 3. Although Russell’s over gave 9 runs, KKR celebrated the wicket. PBKS moved to 121/1.
Prabhsimran completed his half-century in the 13th over bowled by Chetan Sakaria. He took 38 balls to reach the milestone. In the same over, he also smashed another boundary and a six, collecting 18 runs.
Prabhsimran Takes Charge
Varun Chakaravarthy returned for the 14th over but Prabhsimran attacked him fiercely. He hit three boundaries and a six, helping PBKS cross the 150-run mark.
However, Vaibhav Arora struck in the 15th over by dismissing Prabhsimran Singh for a superb 83 off 49 balls. Glenn Maxwell joined next. PBKS slipped slightly but still managed to reach 161/2.
Kolkata Knight Riders Pull Things Back
Sunil Narine bowled the 16th over, giving away just 6 runs. In the 17th, Varun Chakaravarthy removed Glenn Maxwell, who scored 7 runs off 8 balls. Marco Jansen came in at No. 5. Andre Russell bowled the 18th over. Shreyas Iyer finished it with a six. Meanwhile, PBKS scored 10 runs from it.
In the 19th over, Vaibhav Arora dismissed Marco Jansen. Josh Inglis then came to the crease, hitting two boundaries and collecting 9 runs from the over. Andre Russell bowled the final over. Josh Inglis smashed a boundary, taking PBKS past 200. Ultimately, Punjab Kings posted a strong 201/4 in 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 25 off 16 balls, while Josh Inglis stayed not out on 11 off 6 balls.
Rain Washes Out KKR’s Chase
Chasing 202, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine opened for KKR. Marco Jansen bowled the first over and conceded 7 runs. However, rain interrupted the match shortly after. Despite waiting, the rain refused to stop. Finally, officials abandoned the match. Consequently, both teams shared one point each.
