A 45-year-old social activist suffered injuries after a suspected terrorist shot him in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Officials confirmed that the attack happened on Saturday night. The terrorist opened fire on Ghulam Rasool Magray inside his home at Kandi Khas.

In an official statement released on Sunday morning, the authorities said, "The terrorists fired at Ghulam Rasool Magray inside his residence at Kandi Khas late on Saturday."

Authorities Launch Crackdown After Pahalgam Attack

Meanwhile, tensions have risen sharply in Jammu and Kashmir after the deadly attack in Pahalgam. In that shocking incident, terrorists stormed a tourist destination and killed 26 people, sparking outrage across the country.

In response, security forces have launched a widespread crackdown against terrorists and their supporters. On Saturday, officials reported that they demolished homes, raided suspected hideouts, and detained hundreds of overground workers for questioning.

Within the past 48 hours, security forces demolished six houses linked to terrorists or their associates. Officials have warned that they will continue taking similar actions against others suspected of helping militants.

The report stated that the demolished homes belonged to several known terrorists. For example, one house belonged to Ahsan ul Haq from Pulwama, who trained in Pakistan in 2018 and recently infiltrated the Kashmir Valley. Another house belonged to Shahid Ahmad Kuttay, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander from Shopian, who had been involved in anti-national activities for many years.

Additionally, authorities demolished the house of Zakir Ahmad Ganie from Kulgam, who had been under close surveillance since 2023 for alleged terror connections.

Furthermore, the fourth demolished house, located in Kupwara’s Kalaroos area, belonged to Farooq Ahmad Tedwa and Miskeen Ahmad Tedwa. Officials said that both men are now operating from Pakistan.
