Rajasthan Royals (RR) thrashed Gujarat Titans (GT) by 8 wickets with 25 balls to spare in the 47th match of IPL 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Gujarat Titans posted a massive total of 209/4 with the help of blazing half-centuries by Gill and Buttler. Sudharsan also played a sensible knock. However, no one knew that the real storm was yet to come.
Then came the storm of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who blew away every Gujarat Titans bowler. Rajasthan Royals cruised to the 150-run mark by the 11th over. Although Vaibhav got out to Prasidh Krishna, he had already done all the damage. Vaibhav played a sensational knock of 101 runs in just 38 balls. Riyan Parag joined Yashasvi in the 13th over and quickly finished the chase by the 16th over.
Gujarat Titans' Strong Start
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first against Gujarat Titans. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings for Gujarat Titans. Jofra Archer bowled the first over and kept it tight, conceding only six runs. Then, Maheesh Theekshana bowled the second over. Sudharsan struck a boundary, and Gujarat collected 11 runs from the over.
Yudhvir Singh bowled the third over. Gill hit two consecutive boundaries at the end of it. After three overs, Gujarat Titans stood at 27/0.
Titans Build Momentum
Gill and Sudharsan kept the scoreboard ticking by combining boundaries with quick singles and doubles. Archer returned for the fourth over and gave away 11 runs. In the fifth over, Theekshana conceded nine runs as Sudharsan found another boundary.
Sandeep Sharma bowled the sixth over. Gill completed 50 runs for GT and also brought up the 50-run partnership with Sudharsan. Only six runs came from the over. After the powerplay, GT reached 53/0. Sudharsan was batting on 27 off 20 balls, and Gill was on 25 off 16 balls.
Gill and Sudharsan Continue Dominance
Riyan Parag bowled the seventh over, but Gill hammered a six, bringing 14 runs from the over. Wanindu Hasaranga bowled the eighth over and gave away only seven runs. Gill and Sudharsan focused on singles and doubles to keep the momentum going. After eight overs, GT stood at 74/0.
In the ninth over, Yudhvir Singh returned. Gill greeted him with a boundary, and Sudharsan ended the over with a six. Hasaranga bowled the 10th over, and Gill completed his fifty in 29 balls with a single. GT reached 92/0 at the halfway stage, with Gill on 51 and Sudharsan on 39.
Rajasthan Royals Strike
Theekshana broke the opening stand in the 11th over by dismissing Sudharsan for 39 runs. Jos Buttler walked in at No. 3 and got off the mark immediately. Only five runs and a wicket came from the over as GT moved to 97/1.
Sandeep Sharma bowled the 12th over. Gill smashed a six, bringing up GT’s 100. They scored 10 runs from the over. Hasaranga then bowled a tight 13th over, conceding just three runs. GT were at 110/1 after 13 overs.
Gill and Buttler Attack
Yudhvir Singh returned in the 14th over. Gill unleashed two sixes, gathering 15 runs. In the 15th over, Buttler went after Hasaranga, smashing three sixes and a four. The 50-run stand between Gill and Buttler also came up. GT cruised to 149/1 after 15 overs.
Sandeep Sharma bowled the 16th over, and Buttler’s boundary helped GT cross 150. However, only nine runs came from the over. In the 17th over, Theekshana dismissed Gill for a superb 84 off 50 balls. Washington Sundar came in and got off the mark with a single. GT were 168/2 after 17 overs.
Archer bowled the 18th over, and both Buttler and Sundar attacked him. They collected 19 runs. Sandeep Sharma bowled the 19th over and removed Sundar, who scored 13 off 8 balls. Rahul Tewatia came next and started with a double. After 19 overs, GT reached 196/3.
In the final over, Tewatia struck a six before Archer dismissed him. Shahrukh Khan hit a boundary, and Buttler completed his fifty with a double. Gujarat Titans finished with a strong 209/3. Buttler remained unbeaten on 50 off 26 balls, while Shahrukh stayed not out on 5 off 2 balls.
Royals Attack Early
Chasing 210, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened for Rajasthan Royals. Mohammed Siraj bowled the first over. Jaiswal and Vaibhav started aggressively, scoring 11 runs.
In the second over, Jos Buttler dropped Jaiswal off Ishant Sharma's bowling, and Jaiswal capitalized by hitting a six. RR moved to 19/0 after two overs.
Jaiswal went after Siraj in the third over, hitting three boundaries. RR raced to 32/0 after three overs. Suryavanshi then welcomed Ishant with back-to-back sixes in the fourth over. Another six and a boundary followed, as RR smashed 28 runs from the over and reached 60/0.
Suryavanshi Leads the Charge
Washington Sundar bowled the fifth over. Jaiswal started with a six, and Suryavanshi tore into Sundar with two more sixes and a four. He reached his fifty in just 17 balls. RR were 81/0 after five overs.
Prasidh Krishna bowled the sixth over and kept it tight, giving away only six runs. After the powerplay, Rajasthan stood at 87/0. Jaiswal was batting on 31 off 16 balls, and Suryavanshi was on a fiery 52 off 20 balls.
Rashid Khan bowled a tidy seventh over, conceding just four runs. In the eighth over, Jaiswal struck two back-to-back boundaries against Prasidh Krishna, completing a 100-run opening stand. Suryavanshi ended the over with a six. RR reached 108/0 after eight overs.
In the ninth over, Rashid Khan kept it tight again, giving away only six runs. Suryavanshi then destroyed Karim Janat’s debut over by smashing 30 runs, including three sixes and three fours. After 10 overs, RR were 144/0.
Suryavanshi and Jaiswal Shine
Rashid Khan bowled the 11th over. Suryavanshi completed his century in just 35 balls with a six. RR also crossed 150 runs. Prasidh Krishna returned for the 12th over. Jaiswal completed his fifty in 31 balls and followed it up with a six. However, Krishna removed Suryavanshi for a magnificent 101 off 38 balls. Nitish Rana came in and hit a boundary first ball. RR cruised to 170/1 after 12 overs.
Titans Got the Breakthrogh
Rashid Khan struck again in the 13th over by dismissing Nitish Rana for 4 runs. Riyan Parag joined Jaiswal at the crease. Only four runs and a wicket came from the over. RR moved to 174/2.
Prasidh Krishna bowled the 14th over and gave away just nine runs. Sai Kishore bowled the 15th over, but Parag smashed two boundaries and a six, taking RR to 199/2.
Rajasthan Finish Strong
Washington Sundar bowled the 16th over. Jaiswal took a single to bring up 200 for RR. Although Siraj dropped Parag, Jaiswal smashed a boundary. Parag then sealed the win with a six. Rajasthan Royals won the match emphatically by eight wickets.
Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 70 off 40 balls, while Riyan Parag finished with 32* off 15 balls.
Brief Scorecard
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played good innings and built a strong partnership. They performed well as usual. Jos Buttler also played a blazing knock. Fortunately, he completed his half-century on the last ball of the innings. Maheesh Theekshana took two wickets for Rajasthan Royals.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi came out with a clear plan in mind. Gujarat Titans have a strong bowling lineup. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi started hammering the ball out of the park. He hit 7 fours and 11 sixes in his blazing century, which came in just 35 balls.
Gujarat Titans’ plan worked well during the first innings, but in the second innings, they were just spectators, watching the ball sail out of the park. Well done, Vaibhav Suryavanshi!
