Prince William Breaks Unwritten Royal Rule with Fans During Estonia Visit
Prince William broke a long-standing royal tradition by taking selfies with fans in Estonia, signaling a modern shift in royal behavior.

Prince William, who is next in line for the British throne, was recently seen breaking an unofficial royal rule created by his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, according to a report by the New York Post. During one of his public events, William posed for selfies and pictures with fans, stepping away from a well-known tradition of not taking personal photos with the public.

A Modern Twist on Royal Etiquette

On the first day of his official trip to Estonia, Prince William happily posed for selfies. He even took fans' phones to snap photos himself. Reports from the Express mentioned that he spent about 40 minutes interacting with the enthusiastic crowd.

Although experts are unsure if this signals a permanent change in royal behavior, the public warmly welcomed it. Many praised William for being approachable and willing to connect, especially since selfies are so popular among the younger generation and Gen Z.

Experts Weigh In on Prince William’s New Style

Express royal editor Emily Ferguson shared her view, saying, “William appears to be taking a new approach to public engagements.” She further explained, “On the first day of his trip, he fully embraced the crowds and appeared to revel in the dozens of requests for selfies, happily taking people’s phones to take the snap himself.”
