Just hours after Pakistan broke the ceasefire agreement, Amritsar’s district administration said the city remains under red alert. This announcement came early on Sunday morning.
At 5:24 am, the deputy commissioner of Amritsar issued a public message. “We have restored the power supply for your convenience, but we are still on red alert. Sirens will sound now, indicating this red alert. Please don't move out of your house; stay indoors and away from the window,” the message said.
The official also asked people to remain calm and follow instructions. “We will be informing you when we get the green signal. Please ensure compliance and please don't panic,” the message added.
India and Pakistan Agreed to a Ceasefire
On Saturday afternoon, India and Pakistan reached a deal to stop all military actions on land, sea, and air. Both sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump shared the news on social media. He wrote on Truth Social, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.”
He also praised both nations for acting wisely. “Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.
Drone Activity and Explosions Reported
A few hours after the ceasefire announcement, tension rose again. Drones were seen in the sky over Jammu and Kashmir. Soon after, people heard loud explosions.
In response, Indian forces activated air defense systems. They tried to shoot down the drones. The sudden activity caused serious concern.
India Blames Pakistan for Ceasefire Breach
Later that night, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held a press briefing. He said Pakistan had violated the agreement made earlier in the day.
“For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today,” he said.
He made it clear that India would not stay silent. “The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious note of these violations,” Misri added.
