BCCI Confirms IPL 2025 Restart from May 17, Final on June 3
The IPL 2025 will resume on May 17 after a one-week suspension due to India-Pakistan tensions, with the final set for June 3, BCCI confirmed.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the restart of IPL 2025. The tournament will resume on May 17. The announcement came late on Monday.

BCCI made this decision after holding discussions with the government and security agencies.

In its statement, the board said, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season.”

BCCI Suspended IPL Due to Tensions

Earlier, BCCI had paused the league. This happened last week due to growing tensions between India and Pakistan. As a result, the board postponed the matches for one week to protect everyone involved.

The situation got worse when the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala faced a power outage. This blackout followed Pakistan’s strikes on several Indian cities.

Ceasefire Led to New Plans

Fortunately, India and Pakistan signed a ceasefire agreement on Saturday. The next day, BCCI met to review the situation. After the meeting, they decided to continue the tournament from May 17. Moreover, the board confirmed that the final will now be played on June 3.

Updated Schedule for Remaining Matches

At present, 17 matches are left in the season. These games will be held in six cities across India. Additionally, the new schedule includes two double-header Sundays.

However, BCCI has not yet decided the venues for the playoff matches.
