A man attacked a pro-Israel demonstration in Colorado, United States, by hurling Molotov cocktails and shouting slogans like “End Zionists,” “Palestine is free,” and “They are killers.” The incident happened near 13th and Pearl Street in Boulder during a weekly peace walk called “Run for Their Lives.”
Attacker Identified, Injured in Incident
Authorities identified the suspect as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, aged 45. According to FBI Special Agent Mark Michalek, Soliman used a makeshift flamethrower during the attack. After the incident, police arrested him and took him to the hospital for treatment as he also suffered injuries. Though no charges were filed right away, officials stated they plan to “hold Soliman fully accountable.”
Several People Burned
At least six people were injured in the attack. Most of them sustained burns. The Boulder Police Chief, Steve Redfearn, confirmed that the attacker acted alone. He said, “We’re fairly confident we have the lone suspect in custody.”
He added that early reports mentioned a man with a weapon trying to set people on fire. "When we arrived, we encountered multiple victims who were injured, with injuries consistent with burns and other injuries," he explained.
Video Shows Disturbing Scene
In a video shared online, a shirtless man walked around with glass bottles while flames burned the grass in front of him. He could be heard shouting anti-Zionist slogans at people wearing red t-shirts who appeared to be helping an injured person on the ground. Local media reported that the man appeared to throw a homemade Molotov cocktail.
FBI and Authorities Call it Terrorism
The FBI quickly took over the investigation. Special Agent Michalek said, “It is clear that this is a targeted act of violence and the FBI is investigating this as an act of terrorism.”
At first, local police remained cautious about the motive. However, according to AFP, sources confirmed the attack targeted members of the Jewish community who were attending a peaceful gathering.
Federal Agencies Involved
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the agency was fully involved in the investigation. He said, “Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
White House Briefed, National Concerns Rise
The White House also confirmed that President Donald Trump had been briefed about the situation. The attack occurred during a time of increasing tensions in the U.S. due to Israel’s ongoing conflict in Gaza. This conflict has led to a rise in antisemitic hate crimes across the country.
