US President Donald Trump said Iran had “reached out” to discuss possible negotiations on Wednesday. He mentioned that Tehran may even have proposed a visit to the White House. However, he gave no details about the talks.

Speaking outside the White House, Trump stated, “Iran is in a lot of trouble.” He suggested the situation had changed quickly, saying, “There’s a big difference between now and a week ago, right? Big difference.”

President Demands “Unconditional Surrender”

Trump made it clear that he had lost patience with Iran. He repeated his call for Iran’s full surrender. “Next week is going to be very big, maybe less than next week,” he hinted, without giving further information.

He also stressed, “It’s very simple – unconditional surrender. That means I’ve had it, okay? I’ve had it. I give up, no more, we go and blow up all the nuclear stuff that’s all over the place.”

Trump Does Not Rule Out Military Strikes

When asked directly if the U.S. would launch military action against Iran, Trump remained vague. “I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do,” he said.

He further claimed that Iran was “totally defenceless” and lacked good air defences. This added to speculation that the U.S. might support Israel in more strikes against Iran.

Talks May Still Happen

Despite his strong tone, Trump did not completely shut the door on diplomacy. He said, “Nothing is too late.” He also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had offered to mediate between the U.S. and Iran.

Pentagon Ready to Act If Ordered

U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth also spoke on the matter. He told the Senate that the military was prepared to follow any command from Trump. However, he avoided confirming if specific strike plans were in place.

“If and when those decisions are made, the Department (of Defence) is prepared to execute them,” The Guardian quoted him as saying.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Responds Firmly

In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a strong warning. He said, “Let the Americans know that the Iranian nation is not one to surrender, and any military intervention on their part will undoubtedly result in irreparable damage,” according to CNN.

He added that those familiar with Iran’s history should not threaten the nation. “Those who are wise and familiar with Iran, its people, and its history never speak to this nation in the language of threats.”

Trump Calls Khamenei “An Easy Target”

Earlier, Trump had described Khamenei as “an easy target” on social media. He ended his post with the bold words, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”
