Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that Yoga can bring peace to today’s conflict-ridden world. He made this remark while leading the 11th International Yoga Day celebration in Visakhapatnam.
Importantly, he described Yoga as a "pause button" that is the need of the hour. He declared, “Let this Yoga Day mark the beginning of Yoga for humanity 2.0 where inner peace becomes global policy. May today be the start of global peace.”
Yoga Has Become a Global Practice
Over the years, Yoga has gained popularity across the world. Modi highlighted this transformation by saying, “It has united the world. After 11 years, Yoga has become part of the lives of crores of people around the world.”
He further added, “Whether the Sydney Opera House or Everest mountain or the span of the ocean, the message is that Yoga is for everyone.”
This year, countries around the world marked June 21 with the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.
Yoga Encourages Unity and Healing
Moreover, PM Modi explained that Yoga promotes unity and well-being. He said, “It awakens us to interconnectedness. Yoga is for one Earth, one health. Yoga takes us from me to we. India is offering healing to the world.”
Therefore, he encouraged everyone to adopt it daily. He urged, “Let us turn yoga into a revolution. Begin each day with yoga to achieve balance and harmony.”
According to Modi, “Yoga leads us on a journey towards oneness with the world.” He also posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), "Yoga unites the world! Glad to see immense enthusiasm all across the planet for International Day of Yoga."

Global Recognition Began with the UN
Recalling a significant moment, Modi said India’s proposal to mark June 21 as International Yoga Day received quick global support. He shared, “The day India put forth a resolution in the UNGA... and in a very short time, 175 countries of the world stood with our country.”
He called this backing "not a normal incident" in today’s divided world.
CM Naidu Praises Modi’s Global Yoga Efforts
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu praised Modi for making Yoga a worldwide movement. He said, “I am thanking our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making Yoga popular not only in India (but also) across the world.”
Notably, Naidu shared that over 175 countries celebrated Yoga Day in 12 lakh locations, with more than 10 crore people participating.
Massive International Participation
Additionally, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) organized Yoga events in 191 countries. They arranged over 2,000 events at 1,300 locations.
In Delhi, Yoga sessions took place at iconic places such as Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Purana Quila, and Humayun’s Tomb. Similarly, ‘Yoga Bandhan’ programs were held in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Gwalior, and several other cities.
