Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has officially responded to the US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites. He strongly criticized the attacks and said Tehran has the right to defend itself under international law.
Posting on X, Araghchi described the US action as a "grave violation of the UN Charter and international law."
Iran Accuses US of Violating Global Rules
Araghchi said, “The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran's peaceful nuclear installations.”
He added that the strikes were shocking and warned of long-term consequences. “The events this morning are outrageous and will have everlasting consequences,” he said.
Calling for global attention, he added, “Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior.”
Araghchi warned that Iran would take action if needed. “In accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” he stated.
Trump Confirms Strikes, Warns of Stronger Retaliation
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump confirmed the military action. He said the US carried out airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities—Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.
Trump announced the operation on Truth Social, calling it a “spectacular military success.”
Later, speaking from the White House, Trump sent a message to Iran. He called the Iranian regime a “Middle East bully” and urged it to choose peace. At the same time, he issued a stern warning.
“Any retaliation will be met with greater force,” Trump said. He also added, “There will either be peace or tragedy for Iran.”
