South Africa Crush Zimbabwe by 328 Runs to Take 1-0 Lead in Test Series
South Africa thrashed Zimbabwe by 328 runs in Bulawayo, with Corbin Bosch starring with both bat and ball to seal a dominant Test win.

South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by 328 runs on Day 4 of the first Test at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. The visitors continued their dominant run in red-ball cricket and now lead the two-match series 1-0.

Bosch Strikes Early to Set the Tone

The fourth day began with South Africa striking on the very first ball. Corbin Bosch bowled a sharp short ball that cramped Nick Welch, who fended it to short leg. This wicket followed Bosch’s dismissal of Takudzwanashe Kaitano with the last ball of Day 3, putting him on a hat-trick. Although Sean Williams survived the hat-trick ball, Zimbabwe quickly collapsed, losing 4 wickets for just 18 runs.

Zimbabwe’s Target Too Steep

South Africa had set a massive target of 537 runs. Zimbabwe never looked close to chasing it and were eventually bowled out shortly after lunch. The 328-run loss is Zimbabwe’s heaviest in Tests by run margin.

Ervine and Masakadza Resist Briefly

From a shaky 82 for 6, Zimbabwe’s captain Craig Ervine and Wellington Masakadza built a strong seventh-wicket stand of 83 runs. Their partnership offered some resistance, but it didn’t last long. Tony de Zorzi took a brilliant diving catch at short leg to dismiss Ervine on 49, giving Bosch his fourth wicket.

Bosch Shines With Bat and Ball

Bosch soon claimed his maiden five-wicket haul when Vincent Masekesa chopped on. Earlier in the match, he had scored his first Test century. With this performance, Bosch became only the fifth South African to score a hundred and take a five-for in the same Test.

South Africa's Young Stars Step Up

Wiaan Mulder and debutant Lhuan-dre Pretorius also played key roles. Mulder contributed with both bat and ball, while Pretorius impressed with a brilliant 153 on day one. Their efforts helped South Africa dominate from the start.

Zimbabwe Entertains Briefly

Sean Williams played aggressively despite the situation. He hit four boundaries in his first eight balls before top-edging Bosch for 26. Ervine and Masakadza also hit some elegant boundaries. However, Verreynne dropped Masakadza on 10, which allowed the stand to grow.

Masakadza reached his maiden Test fifty with a punch through gully. His previous best score was just 17. Yet, once Ervine fell to Bosch, the Zimbabwe innings collapsed again.

Late Fireworks from Muzarabani

Despite the top-order collapse, Blessing Muzarabani offered brief entertainment. He smashed 4, 4, 6 off part-timer Dewald Brevis and then hit a four and six off Keshav Maharaj. But Brevis ended the innings by dismissing Tanaka Chivanga with a stumping.
