Trump to Host Netanyahu at White House Amid Gaza Ceasefire Push
Trump plans to host Netanyahu at the White House to push for a ceasefire in Gaza and show US support for Israel.

US President Donald Trump will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next Monday. However, the visit is not officially confirmed. Officials shared the news anonymously. The Associated Press reported this, citing US officials.

Efforts to End the War in Gaza

Trump wants Israel to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza. He also hopes for a hostage release. Therefore, this meeting is part of his growing efforts to stop the fighting.

Earlier this week, Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer visited Washington. He met top US officials. They discussed the Gaza conflict, Iran, and other security matters.

Trump Optimistic About Ceasefire

Recently, Trump said he is focusing on ending the conflict between Israel and Hamas. After a ceasefire between Israel and Iran last week, he shared fresh hopes. On Friday, he told reporters, “We think within the next week we’re going to get a ceasefire,” although he gave no further details.

White House Stresses Peace

Meanwhile, the White House confirmed it stays in constant contact with Israeli leaders. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that ending the Gaza war remains a top priority.

“It’s heartbreaking to see the images coming out of both Israel and Gaza. The president wants to end the war and save lives,” she said.

Trump to Show Support for Netanyahu

In addition, Trump is expected to strongly back Netanyahu. Democratic lawmakers and other critics have raised concerns about the US and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear program.

Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites

According to a US Defense Intelligence Agency report, the strikes damaged major Iranian nuclear facilities. These included Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. However, the report said the sites were not completely destroyed.

Later, Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told CBS’ Face the Nation that the sites were “significantly damaged.” He added that Iran could restart its nuclear activities if it blocks inspectors.

Trump's Comments Stir Controversy

Furthermore, Trump sparked debate by commenting on Netanyahu’s corruption trial. Last week, he wrote on social media that the charges were a “WITCH HUNT.” He also claimed the US would “save” Netanyahu.

As a result, his remarks caused concern within Israel’s political circles. Netanyahu’s trial is a deeply divisive issue in the country.

US Approves New Arms Deal

On the same day, the Trump administration approved a $510 million arms deal with Israel. The package includes over 7,000 JDAM bomb guidance kits. These tools help carry out precise airstrikes.

Although the deal is smaller than the annual $3 billion in US military aid, it helps Israel replace weapons used in Gaza and strikes on Iran.

The State Department said, “The United States is committed to Israel’s security, and this sale supports that goal by helping Israel maintain a strong defense capability.”
