The foreign ministers of the Quad countries — the United States, India, Japan, and Australia — strongly condemned the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians.
In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the four ministers demanded that those behind the attack face legal action. They said, "We call for perpetrators, organisers, and financiers of the April 22 Pahalgam attack to be brought to justice."

Pahalgam Attack Leaves 26 Dead
On April 22, terrorists opened fire at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam town, killing 26 people, most of them tourists. Investigations later revealed the attackers had links to Pakistan.
In response, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7. Under this mission, Indian armed forces targeted several terror bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Jaishankar Meets US Secretary of State Rubio
On the sidelines of the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They discussed issues related to India-US bilateral ties, as well as regional and global matters.

He added that their discussion covered key areas like trade, security, critical technologies, connectivity, energy, and mobility. They also exchanged views on international developments.
Jaishankar Also Meets US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth
During his visit to the United States from June 30 to July 2, Jaishankar also met US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. The two leaders talked about strengthening the defence relationship between the two countries.
In a second post on X, Jaishankar said, “Great to meet @SecDef Pete Hegseth in Washington DC today. Had a productive conversation on advancing the India-US defence partnership, building on growing convergences of interests, capabilities and responsibilities.”
