Trump Calls Senate Approval of His Policy Bill ‘Music to My Ears’
US President Donald Trump welcomed the Senate’s narrow approval of his domestic policy bill, calling it “music to my ears” and expressing optimism about its chances in the House.

US President Donald Trump celebrated a major legislative victory on Tuesday morning after the Republican-controlled Senate narrowly passed his wide-ranging domestic policy package.

According to The Guardian, Trump received the news while hosting a roundtable at Florida’s new and controversial migrant detention center, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz.” He was informed during the event that the Senate had just approved his bill.

Reacting instantly, Trump said, “Wow, music to my ears.” He added, “I was also wondering how we’re doing, because I know this is primetime, it shows that I care about you.”

Trump Praises VP JD Vance for Decisive Vote

The Senate passed the bill with a 51-50 vote, and Vice President JD Vance cast the tie-breaking vote. Trump praised him, saying, “He’s doing a good job.”

When reporters asked Trump about House Republicans who were unhappy with changes made in the Senate, he defended the legislation.

“It tells you there’s something for everyone. … It’s a great bill. There is something for everyone, and I think it’s going to go very nicely in the House. Actually, I think it will be easier in the House than it was in the Senate,” he said.

Tense Overnight Session Before the Vote

The Senate vote followed a grueling 24-hour session where lawmakers reviewed and debated dozens of amendments. During that time, GOP leaders delayed votes and worked hard to win over hesitant senators.

To finalize support, they introduced a broad catch-all amendment that addressed key concerns. That amendment also passed by a narrow 51-50 margin, with Vice President Vance once again casting the deciding vote.

Despite Republican control, three GOP senators—Rand Paul (Kentucky), Thom Tillis (North Carolina), and Susan Collins (Maine)—joined all 47 Democrats in voting against the bill.

Bill Heads Back to the House

Trump often calls this package the “big, beautiful bill.” The bill now returns to the House of Representatives, where Speaker Mike Johnson will face the challenge of securing its passage before Trump’s July 4 deadline.

House Republicans may resist changes made by the Senate, especially in sensitive areas. However, Trump remains confident that the House will approve the legislation.
