Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Ujjwal Nikam on his nomination to the Rajya Sabha. He praised Nikam for his dedication to the legal field and commitment to upholding the Constitution.
Recently, President Droupadi Murmu nominated four eminent individuals to the Upper House. These appointments came as replacements for retiring members. Among them was Nikam, a renowned public prosecutor.

Nikam’s Legacy in Law
Over the years, Nikam has taken up several high-profile criminal cases. Most notably, he served as the lead prosecutor in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks involving Ajmal Kasab. In addition, he handled the 1993 Bombay blasts trial. His courtroom presence and preparation have earned him national recognition.
Other Notable Nominations
Alongside Nikam, the President nominated three other respected figures. These include Harsh Vardhan Shringla, former Foreign Secretary; C Sadanandan Master, a veteran social worker and teacher from Kerala; and Meenakshi Jain, a historian known for her academic work on Indian civilisation.
Furthermore, PM Modi congratulated each of them in individual posts on X. He appreciated their contributions and described their achievements as vital to national progress.
