Trump Named in Unverified Epstein Files, Says US Justice Department
The US Justice Department told Donald Trump that his name appears multiple times in unverified documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, though officials found no credible evidence of wrongdoing.

The US Justice Department has told President Donald Trump that his name appears several times in documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein. CNN reported this based on information from sources familiar with the matter.

Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly informed Trump during a meeting at the White House in May. She explained that his name came up in files that contain “unverified hearsay” about people who had social ties with Epstein in the past.

Justice Department Review Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing

CNN’s sources said Bondi mentioned Trump’s name during a Justice Department review. A senior official told The Wall Street Journal that the documents include hundreds of names. The official clarified that simply appearing in the records does not mean a person did anything wrong.

White House communications director Steven Cheung rejected the report. He said it was “another fake news story.”

Bondi also told Trump that investigators did not find a credible “client list.” She said there was no evidence that challenges the official conclusion that Epstein died by suicide.

Claims Against Trump Called Unreliable

Officials said most claims in the records, including those involving Trump, were not backed by strong evidence. The Justice Department considered many of them untrustworthy.

It is not clear how or why Trump’s name appears in the documents. But like many well-known figures in 1990s New York, Trump had social connections with Epstein. According to reports, the files don’t reveal much beyond what is already known about their past interactions.

One official noted, “The White House was not surprised — Trump’s name was among those listed in the binders Pam Bondi brought in.” The official added that Trump’s name had also appeared in earlier Justice Department records.

Trump’s Ties to Epstein Have Faced Past Scrutiny

Trump’s connection to Epstein has drawn attention for years. In 2002, he told New York Magazine, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy… He likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

The Wall Street Journal also reported that Trump once sent Epstein a risqué birthday card. Trump has denied that and sued the publication over the claim.

Recently, Elon Musk added to the controversy. He posted on X (formerly Twitter), claiming Trump’s name appears in the Epstein documents. Musk suggested that’s why the records haven’t been released completely. He wrote, “Have a nice day, DJT!”
