The final months of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne were recorded for a documentary series before his death. The 76-year-old Black Sabbath frontman died earlier this week after a long fight with Parkinson’s disease. His son Jack Osbourne revealed that Ozzy and his wife Sharon had been filming a docuseries titled Home To Roost. The show follows the couple as they returned to live in Buckinghamshire, England, after spending two decades in the United States.
Jack, 39, shared this information with The Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine before his father passed away. He also spoke about other projects that were underway, including Ozzy’s autobiography and a biopic.
Ozzy’s Memoir to Be Released Posthumously
According to Jack, Ozzy completed his autobiography titled Last Rites, which is expected to be published later this year. The book will likely give fans a deeper look into the rock star’s life, career, and final journey.
Jack also revealed details about a biographical film in the works. As a co-producer, he said the movie would cover Ozzy’s time with Black Sabbath and his early solo years in the 1980s. Jack explained, “Right now it’ll take place over the Sabbath era and early 1980s. We’re definitely going for a more adult rating for the film. This is by no means going to be a fluff piece. Right now we’re going through a rewrite with Craig Borten, who wrote Dallas Buyers Club."
Family Confirms Ozzy’s Death
Ozzy’s family confirmed his death through a heartfelt statement, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
Ozzy died at his home in Buckinghamshire. His family had flown in from Los Angeles to be by his side. A source told MailOnline that his passing came sooner than expected, “[His passing was] unexpected to be this soon."
Daughters and Son Rushed to His Side
The source said that daughters Aimee, 41, and Kelly, 40, came from Los Angeles, while Jack travelled from Idaho. Jack had earlier watched his father perform at what would become his final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham on July 5.
The insider added, “Ozzy was always meant to come back to Britain to live in Buckinghamshire, it was where Sharon had spent so long preparing their family home for him. There was much hope that he would be around for a lot longer than this, but at one point, there were fears they would not get him back from Los Angeles for the concert earlier this month. Kelly has been at the house a lot in the last week or so, and so has Aimee. It is terribly sad for all of them; they really hoped he would be able to carry on for a bit longer. But it’s so lovely that he had his children around him during his last days."
