A massive blast struck a production facility in Russia’s Ryazan region last week. On Monday, officials confirmed that 20 people died and 134 others suffered injuries.
Fire Triggered the Blast
Governor Pavel Malkov explained that the incident began when a fire broke out inside a workshop. Soon after, the flames spread and triggered a deadly explosion.
Cause Remains Unclear
However, Russian media reports did not reveal what caused the fire or what the factory produced. Moreover, officials have not shared details beyond ongoing rescue and medical efforts.
Casualty Update
Meanwhile, the local emergency service headquarters posted an update on Telegram, “As of August 18, 20 people died as a result of the emergency incident. There are 134 injured, of which 31 patients are in hospitals in Ryazan and Moscow, while 103 patients are undergoing outpatient treatment.”

Therefore, authorities continue to treat the injured and support families of the victims. At the same time, investigators are still trying to find the exact cause of the fire.
