Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal Team Up for Honeymoon with Harry
Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal will lead Honeymoon with Harry, a long-delayed film about grief and unexpected family bonds, finally moving forward with Amazon MGM.

Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal will headline Honeymoon with Harry, a film stuck in development since 2004. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa will direct, while Dan Fogelman has written the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Story based on Bart Baker’s novel

The film adapts Bart Baker’s then-unpublished novel. It tells the story of a man, played by Gyllenhaal, who goes on a honeymoon with his would-be father-in-law, played by Costner. The trip takes place after tragedy—his fiancée dies just two days before their wedding.

Strong producing team takes charge

Dan Fogelman will produce along with Mike Karz of Gulfstream Pictures. Jennifer Salke, former Amazon MGM chief, will also produce through her new company, Sullivan Street Productions. This marks Salke’s first project with Amazon MGM and her producing debut.

The film also reunites Karz’s Gulfstream Pictures with Amazon MGM. Their recent collaborations include Upgraded, a romantic comedy starring Camila Mendes, and One Fast Move, an action drama with KJ Apa and Eric Dane.

Gyllenhaal’s rising momentum

Jake Gyllenhaal has been on a strong run. He starred in Amazon’s Road House remake, one of the platform’s biggest hits. A sequel is already planned and will begin filming later this fall.

He also appeared in Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent, which earned him an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie.

Costner’s ongoing Western saga

Kevin Costner, the Oscar-winning star of Dances with Wolves and former Yellowstone lead, remains dedicated to his passion project. He is working on Horizon: An American Saga, an ambitious four-part Western. Two parts have been filmed so far, but only the first has been released.
