India on Wednesday carried out a successful test of its Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-5, from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, Odisha.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed the launch in a statement. It said, “Conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, the launch validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile, marking a significant boost to the country’s strategic deterrence capabilities.”

Details of the Test
According to the ministry, the Agni-5 trial was conducted on August 20. Officials noted that the missile met all required standards during the test. The launch was overseen by the Strategic Forces Command, which manages India’s nuclear and strategic arsenal.

India’s missile program currently includes several variants of the Agni series.

Agni-1 has a range of about 700 km.

The Agni-5, considered more advanced, was first tested on April 19, 2012. Since then, it has become a key part of India’s long-range deterrence strategy.
