Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his two-state tour with a four-hour programme across Gaya, Patna, and Begusarai. During this visit, he will unveil projects worth nearly ₹13,000 crore in Bihar.
At Gaya, the Prime Minister Modi will dedicate a 660 MW power project in Buxar, built at a cost of ₹6,880 crore. He will also inaugurate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur, which will provide advanced cancer treatment in north Bihar.
The programme also includes a ₹520 crore sewage treatment plant in Munger under the Namami Gange initiative. Alongside this, Modi will inaugurate several urban infrastructure projects across Bihar valued at about ₹1,260 crore.

Railways and Housing Boost
From Gaya, Modi will flag off two important trains. The first is the Amrit Bharat Express, connecting Gaya to Delhi. The second is a Buddhist Circuit special train, linking Vaishali in Bihar with Koderma in Jharkhand, to strengthen cultural and tourism ties.
As part of the day’s schedule, symbolic keys will be handed over to 12,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), an affordable housing scheme for rural families.
Inauguration of Key Bridge
Later in Mokama, located in Patna district, Modi will inaugurate the Aunta-Simaria bridge. The 8.15 km-long structure includes a six-lane, 1.86 km stretch that connects Aunta in Mokama with Simaria in Begusarai. Officials say this bridge will significantly improve regional connectivity.
Political Timing in Bihar
Modi’s Bihar visit comes at a politically sensitive time. It coincides with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, which focuses on electoral reforms ahead of assembly elections expected later this year. The overlap highlights the growing political activity in the state.
Shift to West Bengal
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Kolkata to launch and lay foundation stones for transport projects worth more than ₹5,200 crore.
At 4:15 pm, Modi will inaugurate three new stretches of the Kolkata Metro. Together, they will add 13.62 km across three corridors:
-
Sealdah to Esplanade (2.45 km)
-
Noapara to Jai Hind Bimanbandar (6.77 km)
-
Hemanta Mukhopadhyay to Beleghata (4.39 km)
These projects are expected to ease traffic congestion and improve mobility in the city.
Foundation for Elevated Corridor
In addition, Modi will lay the foundation for a 7.2 km elevated corridor on the Kona Expressway, a project valued at over ₹1,200 crore. This corridor will improve connectivity between Howrah and Kolkata, making travel faster and more efficient.
