Social Media Buzz on Trump’s ‘Death’ Ends with Golf Sighting
Rumors about Donald Trump’s death flooded social media, but his Virginia golf outing confirmed he is alive and well.

Speculation about US President Donald Trump’s health reached its peak on social media last weekend. Hashtags like “Trump Is Dead” and “Where Is Trump?” flooded X, with users questioning his well-being. The online storm, however, ended when the 79-year-old leader was spotted golfing in Virginia.

VP JD Vance’s Remarks Add Fuel

The rumors started soon after Vice President JD Vance spoke about Trump’s health in an interview with USA TODAY on August 27. Vance stressed he was ready to take charge “should anything happen” to the president. Yet, he also assured that “the president is in incredibly good health. He’s got incredible energy.”

Vance added, “He’s the last person making phone calls at night, and he’s the first person who wakes up and the first person making phone calls in the morning.” He admitted that “terrible tragedies happen” but expressed confidence that Trump would “serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people.”

His remarks came just a year after Trump survived an assassination attempt, when a bullet grazed his ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. With Trump staying away from public appearances for three days, these comments only deepened suspicions online.

Trump’s Public Absence Raised Questions

The last time Trump was seen in public before the rumors was during a Cabinet meeting on August 26. There, he fielded questions on global tensions and even on Taylor Swift’s engagement. After that, his schedule was empty from Wednesday to Friday, and the White House announced no public events for Labor Day weekend. This silence further fueled internet gossip.

The Simpsons Theory Resurfaces

Adding to the drama, an old comment by The Simpsons creator Matt Groening resurfaced. At Comic-Con in July, Groening had joked that the show would keep running until “somebody dies.” He added, “When you-know-who dies, ‘The Simpsons’ predicts there will be dancing in the streets. Except President Vance will ban dancing.”

The show’s history of uncanny Trump predictions, including a 2000 episode that depicted him as president, made many users connect the dots and spread conspiracy theories.

Health Concerns Go Viral

Online chatter intensified after a photo of Trump’s bruised hand at the Cabinet meeting circulated. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt clarified that the marks came from “shaking hands all day, every day.”

Back in July, White House physician Sean Barbarella had explained that Trump’s bruising was caused by “minor soft tissue irritation” from frequent handshakes and aspirin use. He also revealed that Trump has chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older people, but assured that the president “remains in excellent health.”

Trump Returns to Public Eye

On August 30, Trump finally appeared in public, ending all speculation. Cameras captured him leaving the White House with his grandchildren, Kai and Spencer. Dressed in a polo shirt, black pants, and his signature red “Make America Great Again” hat, he headed to his Virginia golf club.

People magazine reported that his motorcade arrived at Trump National Golf Course in Sterling, Virginia, just after 9 a.m. local time.

Still, some users continued to insist the man golfing was a body double. Meanwhile, the White House said Trump had been holding meetings and even gave an hour-long interview to Daily Caller. Reporter Reagan Reese confirmed online: “He’s very much alive!”
