Atlanta police arrested Kelvin Evans after a July car break-in that led to the theft of Beyoncé’s unreleased music, officials confirmed Tuesday. Therefore, officers charged Evans with entering a vehicle to commit theft and violating parole. They then booked him into Fulton County Jail. However, online jail records do not list an attorney for him.
Theft Happened During Beyoncé’s Tour
The break-in occurred on July 8, while Beyoncé’s tour stopped in Atlanta.
At that time, her choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer, Diandre Blue, were traveling with her. While they were eating at a nearby restaurant, someone smashed a window of their rental car.
As a result, the thief stole two suitcases from the vehicle.
Grant told police he was carrying “some personal sensitive information” for Beyoncé when the incident happened.
Stolen Items Included Unreleased Music
According to the police report, the stolen suitcases contained:
-
Two Apple laptops
-
Five thumb drives with unreleased Beyoncé music
-
Other tour-related digital files
Significantly, these thumb drives held exclusive, unreleased tracks, creating serious security concerns for Beyoncé’s team.
Stolen Files Still Missing
Atlanta police spokesman Anthony Grant said Tuesday that none of the stolen items have been recovered. Meanwhile, the investigation continues as officers search for the missing music files and try to determine if they were shared or sold.
High Stakes for Beyoncé’s Team
Ultimately, this case involves valuable and sensitive material tied to Beyoncé’s global tour. Going forward, police are focused on recovering the stolen files and uncovering Evans’ complete role in the theft.
