DOJ Subpoenas Travel Records of Georgia DA Fani Willis
The DOJ has subpoenaed Georgia DA Fani Willis’s travel records, raising questions about a possible investigation into one of Trump’s political rivals.

The Department of Justice (DoJ) has issued a subpoena seeking records related to the travel history of Georgia District Attorney Fani T. Willis. This move draws attention because Willis previously charged former President Donald Trump in a broad election interference case in Georgia.

It remains unclear whether Willis is the focus of the investigation or if she could face charges. Grand jury proceedings are secret by law, and the scope of the inquiry has not been disclosed.

Indications of Broader Investigation

Documents reviewed by The New York Times suggest that the DoJ might be investigating another of Trump’s old political rivals. This news came just a day after the department indicted former FBI Director James B. Comey, despite objections from career prosecutors who argued that the evidence was insufficient.

In recent days, Trump criticized several officials, including US Attorney General Pam Bondi, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and California Senator Adam Schiff, for not acting more aggressively against his political opponents.

Behind Closed Doors in Georgia

Federal prosecutors in Georgia are collecting records related to Willis’s travel around last year’s election, according to The New York Times. However, the reason for requesting these documents has not been made public.

The inquiry is led by Theodore S. Hertzberg, the US attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. Meanwhile, Jeff DiSantis, a spokesperson for Willis, stated on Friday:
"We have no comment beyond the fact we have no knowledge of any investigation."

Last week, the Georgia Supreme Court declined to hear Willis’s appeal regarding her disqualification, making it unlikely that her case will move forward.

Trump’s Response

Speaking to reporters before leaving the White House for the Ryder Cup golf championship on Long Island, Trump commented, "There’ll be others."

However, details of the case remain secret, and it has not been made public.
