Johnny Depp Returns to Hollywood with ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’
Johnny Depp makes a thrilling Hollywood comeback as Scrooge in the gothic horror reimagining Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, set to release on November 13, 2026.

Johnny Depp is making a major Hollywood comeback. He will play Ebenezer Scrooge in Paramount Pictures’ Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. Ti West directs the film, which reimagines the classic Dickens story as a gothic horror tale. The movie releases on November 13, 2026, and takes place in Victorian London.

Scrooge Faces Supernatural Encounters

In the story, Scrooge confronts the ghosts of his past, present, and future. These encounters force him to rethink his life and seek redemption. According to Deadline, Depp brings Scrooge to life through intense, supernatural experiences. Meanwhile, Oscar-nominated Andrea Riseborough, known for To Leslie, is set to join the cast. However, her character remains undisclosed.

Depp’s Hollywood Comeback After Hiatus

This film marks Depp’s return to major studio films after Waiting for the Barbarians (2019) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). He stepped back from Hollywood following a high-profile defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard. The trial ended in June 2022, ruling in Depp’s favor. Afterwards, Heard paid him $1 million, which he donated to charity.

A Dark New Twist on a Classic

Ti West adds horror and supernatural elements to Dickens’ story. Nathaniel Halpern, creator of Tales from the Loop, wrote the script. Emma Watts produces the film, while Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman serve as executive producers.

The film will hit theatres on November 13, 2026. It will compete with a Blumhouse horror project and release a week before Lionsgate’s Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping. With a star-studded cast and a chilling, reimagined tale, the movie promises to dominate the holiday season.
