The INDIA bloc, or Mahagathbandhan, ran an aggressive campaign around Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ allegations. However, voters did not respond as expected. Early trends showed a record win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
By 2:30 pm, the NDA led in 198 seats. The Mahagathbandhan trailed badly, leading in only 40 constituencies. The BJP-JDU alliance maintained a strong, stable lead above 195 seats, while Congress and the RJD struggled to reach 50. The majority mark in the 243-member assembly is 122.
Rahul Gandhi’s Vote-Chori Pitch Fails
Rahul Gandhi and Congress attacked the Election Commission for weeks. They claimed the BJP-led NDA was involved in “vote theft.” Rahul held three press conferences promising a “hydrogen bomb” of evidence. He accused the ECI of deleting votes and manipulating data.
In his last press conference on November 6, Rahul claimed a Brazilian model appeared 22 times on the Haryana voter list under names like Seema and Sweety. Despite these claims, voters ignored the message.
Congress Suffers Major Setback
Congress performed poorly in the election. It led in only four out of 61 seats it contested. The party failed to boost the alliance’s tally. Rahul Gandhi’s vote-chori narrative and Congress’ social media push did not energise voters or create momentum.
